
The EU launched applications for its Innovation Fund, one of the largest funding programmes for low-carbon technologies. It aims to support technologies, processes and products that tackle greenhouse gases emissions by offering financial support, attracting additional public and private resources. 10 billion euros will be allocated to projects that meet the challenges of tomorrow for the period 2020-2030. The fund is financed by revenues from the auctioning of allowances under the EU emissions trading system (ETS).
It focuses on:
- Innovative low-carbon technologies and processes in energy-intensive industries, including products substituting carbon-intensive ones.
- Construction and operation of carbon capture and storage
- Innovative renewable energy generation
- Energy storage
Eligibility
Eligible countries for the projects are EU Members, Norway and Iceland. You can read more about eligibility and admissibility conditions in Section 4 and 5 of the call document.
