
The Cyprus Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, after it examined the plans elaborated to reduce energy costs to consumers, as well as to achieve the Republic's goals in terms of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving by 2020, has recently announced the implementation of the "Funding Scheme to encourage the use of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving at Residences", which will be funded by the Renewable Energy Fund.
The total budget of the scheme amounts to 24,5 million euros and is expected to cover almost 13.000 applications. The scheme will remain in force until the 2nd of September of 2019 or until the available budget is been exhausted.
The funding categories covered by the scheme are:
- 1st Category: Revision of the Plan for Thermal Insulation of Roofs of Existing Residences.
- 2nd Category: Thermal Insulation of Roofs of Existing Residences in combination with photovoltaic system (PV) installation with the method of netting of measurements.
- 3rd Category (Plan A): Photovoltaic system (PV) installation by the method of offsetting measurements in existing dwellings for all consumers.
- 3rd Category (Plan B): Installation of a photovoltaic system by the method of offsetting measurements in homes of vulnerable consumers.
